本剧讲述了抗日战争时期，三个异姓兄弟从歃血为盟到反目成仇，再到联手杀敌，抗击日寇的故事。本着不雷不神的态度，从描述小人物的成长斗争史中，反观整个抗日战争时期，共产党为抗击日寇所做出的伟大牺牲与贡献。 全剧通过描述三兄弟各自的成长史以及三人之间复杂的感情纠葛，展现了整个抗战时期中国共两党之间以及与汪伪政权之间复杂的政治纠葛与斗争，不仅展现了中国人民英勇抗击日寇的斗争，更从人性的角度出发，对战争进行了深刻的反思，以图达到以史为鉴、以人为镜的目的。同时也传达了中国人民自古便有的乐观主义斗争精神和大无畏的牺牲精神，传递向上、向善、向美的正能量，同时更告诉世人一个不争的事实——正义必定战胜邪恶！。Francesco’s Mediterranean Voyage is a BBC Television documentary series first aired in 2008.
