水と触れ合うことが好きな七瀬遙は、仲間の橘真琴と共に入学した岩鳶中学校で水泳部に入部。遙は、真琴と椎名旭、桐嶋郁弥でメドレーリレーのチームを組むことに。彼らは個性も考え方もバラバラで、全くうまくいかない。それでも遙はチームになるために必要なことを考え、互いを少しずつ知り、練習を積み重ねていく。。The story takes us back to 1889, in the wake of primary school teacher Louise Violet who is sent to a village in the French countryside to enforce Republic schooling (which is free, compulsory and secular).
